Application deadlines vary from December through March for summer opportunities.
Opportunities at Oregon State
URSA
Summer funded research on the Oregon State University campus is offered through URSA. The deadline for receipt of student applications is usually in early December. This is a great opportunity to find out what research is all about and earn a stipend over the summer. Visit URSA for more information.
SURE Science
The College of Science Summer Undergraduate Research Experience, known as SURE Science, offers paid summer research scholarships so students gain a stimulating research experience that enhances their academic experience.
NSF Research Experience for Undergraduates
The National Science Foundation funds a large number of research opportunities for undergraduate students through its REU Sites program. An REU Site consists of a group of ten or so undergraduates who work in the research programs of the host institution. Each student is associated with a specific research project, where he/she works closely with the faculty and other researchers.
Visit the National Science Foundation (NSF) to search available REUs.

Other opportunities
It is worthwhile to look at the California schools and check - look for schools that have programs that start mid to late June. Many semester schools start REU programs June 1 or even in May and most OSU students have a difficult time getting finals done that early but some have done it! If you see a program that looks interesting to you, apply for it. These are very competitive programs.
